Record and Photos of Mass with Blessing of the Chapel of St. John Paul II

In Loučka near Vizovice, after years of effort by local residents, with the support of the Zlín Region and numerous donors, the construction of the Chapel of St. John Paul II has been completed. This sacred building was created out of gratitude for the miraculous rescue of the village from being burned down at the very end of World War II. The dedication of the chapel pays tribute to a person who herself participated in the anti-Nazi resistance and became a worldwide symbol of the fight for freedom and human dignity.

The architect, Josef Pleskot, chose traditional brick for this modern building, thus naturally referencing the regional Bata architecture. Light flows into the chapel from above, so that every visitor looking up sees hanging bells. A distinctive feature of the building is a unique carillon with forty bells, cast by the workshop of Marie L. Dytrychová from Brodko near Přerov. It includes the Bell of Reconciliation, which bears the names of all villages and settlements burned during the war in our territory. The solemn blessing of the chapel and the carillon will take place during mass, which will be celebrated by Archbishop Josef Nuzík of Olomouc, with the participation of many domestic and foreign guests.
